Appropriate Head Protection

Head protection measures should be taken seriously whether on a construction site or in a chemical plant. Depending on the level and type of risk an occupation requires, different protection methods should be used. For instance, a construction worker may require a hard hat, while a plant operator may need a Tyvek chemical hood.

In 2002, 5.3 of every 100 workers were injured or fell sick as a result of their occupation. This accounted for 4.7 million injuries or illnesses. How many of these affected your industry?

How OSHA Is Helping?

78% of the 4.7 million came from wholesale or retail trade, and manufacturing. How many of these people were kept home from work due to missing head protection? If the Occupational Safety & Health Administration could manage the thousands of organizations who fail to meet safety requirements, this number would continue to decrease.

While OSHA has set aside $457.5M in funds for the fiscal year of 2004, many organizations will continue to dodge responsibility.
