Fall Protection Requirements
Fall protection devices are required for those employees who are obligated to perform their job duties above ground level. Walking and working on a surface that is more than 15 feet in the air requires certain precautions in order to ensure a worker's safety. These conditions are required by OSHA and are provided through protection devices such as landyards, safety nets or guardrail systems.
Additionally, if your employees are working on multi-story structures, further protection should be added. Perimeter safety cables are required on buildings taller than two stories or thirty feet high. If your working conditions fall into these categories, be sure your work sites are following federal parameters.

The increase in use of fall protection devices is the number one reason the rate of fatalities in the workforce have dropped. Since the induction of OSHA, workplace fatalities have dropped more than 60%. This number is even more impressive when you consider the percentage of workers has increased by more than 60 million since the 1971 founding of OSHA. So while more and more people are working potentially dangerous jobs, the rate of safety has increased considerably.
