Confined Space Equipment
At All Safety Products, Inc., we provide you the equipment you need for
confined space requirements. Operating in tight spaces can be extremely
difficult without the proper confined space equipment. Poor air quality, heat,
and lock of elbow room make small areas tough to work in, but with good tools
and the proper protective equipment, safe work practices in tight spaces are a
little bit easier. Three main types of equipment that you may need involve PPE,
ventilation and lights, and communication equipment if necessary.
Types of Confined Space Equipment
The list of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for use in confined spaces is
long, and specialized. Standard protective gear such as hardhats and safety
glasses are important, as is a safety harness and winch for applications that
involve vertical travel, such as manhole work. With the addition of a tripod,
many fall protection systems also double as lifelines for confined space work.
This helps to keep accessible rescue systems and devices.
Ventilation units usually consist of collapsible duct hosing for connection
with an outside air source, and a high-grade centrifugal blower to act as a fan.
Many ventilation kits include mounts for manholes, duct carriers, and a saddle
vent. It is also important to include in your list of confined space equipment
plenty of light sources, including helmet-mounted lights or flashlights as well
as standard harnesses.
If your target area is significantly distant from your point of entry, it may
also be important to carry a portable radio. Especially if you are operating
alone in conditions that cannot be remotely monitored, a simple two-way radio is
a safe and lightweight addition to your confined space equipment. Radio
microphone and receiver options for certain models of respirator may also be
available.
All Safety Products, Inc. in addition to carrying safety harnesses also
provides emergency hoists, mounting brackets, rope, cables, pulleys, tripods,
galvanized wire rope. We have access to most brands.
